The Peninsula Haematology & Oncology Centre provides caring and knowledgable medical oncology care through Dr Nicole Potasz and Dr Jacqui Thomson.

Dr Nicole Potasz MBBS (Hons) FRACP

Dr Nicole Potasz is a medical oncologist specialising in the management of breast cancer. She obtained her medical degree from Monash University, graduating in 1994 before undertaking physician training at The Alfred. She undertook a year of research fellowship at The Ludwig Institute, Austin Health before obtaining her fellowship to the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2003.

Dr Potasz joined the oncology unit at Frankston Hospital in 2003 and continues to work in both the inpatient unit and the outpatient clinic there. She commenced private practice in 2008 joining Peninsula Haematology and Oncology (PHOC) which is now located at Peninsula Private Hospital. She is a member of Breast Cancer Trials (BCT) Australia, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society of Medical Oncology and Medical Oncology Group of Australia. She is involved in clinical trial research and has been a principal investigator for a number of local and international research studies.

Dr Potasz’s main interest is the treatment of breast cancer with a particular focus on quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis and supportive care. She has over 20 years’ experience in caring for patients with early stage and advanced cancer including palliative care. She believes in the importance of good communication and compassionate care for all patients with cancer.

Dr Jacqui Thomson

Dr. Jacqui Thomson is a graduate of the University of Western Australia. She trained in Medical Oncology in Melbourne, including clinical research fellowships at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She is a Medical Oncologist at Peninsula Health and has a private practice based at Peninsula Private hospital.

Jacqui’s main professional interest is in the management of early and advanced breast cancer and she has over 20 years of clinical experience in the field. Additionally, she is very active in clinical research and has been the local principal investigator in numerous nternational, multicentre clinical trials as well as conducting many investigator-led studies at Peninsula Health. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA) and Breast Cancer Trials group.
